Monogram Crazy

For as long as I can remember I've been obsessed with letters. I don't really doodle little drawings, I doodle letters and words, and monograms. I'm obsessed with monograms. Big time, and lately I'm finding myself even more obsessed with monograms than usual.

Here are some of my favorites:

What do you think? Are you a fan of monograms? xo!

On my mind: Dangerous Accessories

I don't know why, but I am slightly obsessed with"dangerous" accessories lately! I have this spiked bracelet, and whenever I wear it (which is just about daily) I get compliments, or funny comments on it.  One lady taking my order at Starbucks noticed my bracelet, and said "Whoa, I'll be sure to make your coffee just right. Wouldn't want to mess with you!" Haha!

A few things I'm into lately....

What do you think of these "dangerous" accessories? xoxox!

My Top 5 Nail Polish Picks for Fall 2011

Hey friends!! Today I thought I'd share my five favorite Fall nail polishes. These colors all scream "Fall!" to me, and I hope you love them!

5.) Essie's "Very Structured"  On the Essie website it's described as a "classic burnt sienna" and I couldn't agree more. I've seen it described as a dark pumpkin or rust color, but it isn't - it's truly more of a beautiful brownish-red, with great lasting power.

4.) "Wallis"by Butter London. This color is amazing, as is the brand. A little pricey, yes, but worth it every once in a while.  Wallis is a gorgeous metallic olive-gold. It looks amazing on, and people have stopped me to ask me what color it is several times when I've worn it.  PS - right now at Ulta Butter is buy one, get one 50% off!
3.) "Ski Teal We Drop" by OPI.  I love this color. It's a dark greenish-greyish-blue.  It might not be what you think of for your classic Fall color, but I think a punch of blue is appropriate in any season!
2.) "Power Clutch" by Essie. So pretty! This is a dark greenish-grey. Depending on the light it looks more grey than green, and it is lovely. Such a pretty color to add to your nail polish wardrobe.
1.) My favorite nail polish for Fall 2011......"Trendsetter" by China Glaze. The base of this color is a mustard yellow, that can almost be described as camel-colored in some light. It's then dusted with a super fine sprinkling of gold shimmer. It's gorgeous, and my favorite Fall nail polish!
So, what do you think of my picks? What is your favorite nail polish for the Fall season? Do you pick your nail polishes according to seasons (or am I the only crazy one?) What I wish I'd Worn Wednesday {camera troubles, edition}

Still dealing with camera issues, so I thought it would be fun to post a couple gorgeous outfits I wish I'd worn!  It's been in the low to mid 80's all week (in my opinion, the perfect weather!) so here are a few things I wish I'd worn.

Have a great day, friends!

As random as it gets.

{written Thursday, April 14}

Here I am, enjoying a quiet afternoon.  Gianna is napping, Leila is at preschool and Tony is golfing.  I have a sugar cookie scentsy burning, and no noise but the quiet snore of Sugar, who is passed out on the couch next to me.  It's heavenly.

These rare quiet times are one the most random thoughts pop into my head.  I've decided to write a few of them down, and share them with you.

  • I picked up a bunch of paint samples when we were at Home Depot the other day.  Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but hopefully something fun and crafty.  Right now they're just sitting in a big mason jar on my desk. I like to look at them.

  • I had some traction done on my jaw at the chiropractor this morning. Ouch.  Did I tell you I dislocated my jaw last week?  Yep, I did.  And I did it in the most random way.  My mom and I were lifting a heavy table into my house last week and my lower jaw completely dislocated.  Maybe I was gritting my teeth? Who knows. It's back in place now, thankfully.
  • At Creative Estates, Becky Higgins mentioned getting a notebook to write down all of your ideas, to free up room in your brain.  I've been doing this, and can honestly say that I have been far less scatter-brained since.
  • Leftover Chinese food for lunch with no one saying "dat, dat, dat!" (Gianna.) Is fabulous.
  • This morning, while working (my work space is in the garage, FYI) I blindly reached into a box that was under my desk.  There were a bunch of thick spider webs in the opening of the box, but since spiders don't really bother me I kept my hand going in the box. I stopped when I felt a little tickle and looked down to see a black widow spider walking across my hand.  I screamed, hubby came out and killed it.  The spider didn't bite me (thank God) but being the hypochondriac that I am, I've been checking my hand constantly for any sign of swelling.  Eww!
  • I really want these and these for my birthday.  I've heard they're the comfiest, and hello - shoes for kids in need?  Awesome! Edited to add: hubby bought me the burlap tom's on our date night last night.  Woot!

Alright, so tell me.  What random things are on your mind?

Jumping on the bandwagon.....

So, I know that the Bare Minerals craze is not new by a long shot, but to be honest with you - I have *always* resisted it.  I've worked for Aveda, Stila and Laura Mercier so I've always stuck with what I've known and loved.

Well, my skin has gotten worse since having kids (those little buggers really do a number on every part of you!)  I still break out, but I get super dry now and am beyond sensitive.  Blech.  Nina raved about how much she loved Bare Minerals, and after hearing about a zillion other people rave about it I decided to give it a go.  I went to the mall completely kid-free and with no time constraints (thanks, babe!)  and headed straight to the Bare Escentuals boutique and tried it all.  I promised myself I'd try it on, wait a day and then go back to purchase it if I loved it.  Um.....that didn't happen. I left with the full kit which is a seriously awesome value at $60, and a handful of eye shadows.  I'll be going to Ulta for some new blushes, since I just got a 20% off your entire purchase coupon, including Bare Minerals - d'oh!

Oh, well.  Ladies - if you haven't tried Bare Minerals (which I'm sure you have) run, don't walk to try it out now!!  And if you already use it, let me know what your favorite products are!

Lil Blue Boo trunk show

It's no secret that I love handmade.  I especially love handmade when there is a fabulous mama or two behind it.

Let me introduce you to Lil Blue Boo, on the off-chance you haven't heard of it....Lil Blue Boo offers fun and unique clothing for girls, all handmade in the USA.  Inspired and modern with an eclectic mix of original hand cut silk screens, all wrapped into wearable, comfortable clothing styled for layering and multiple seasons. Sizes range from 6 months to 10 years, with a few pieces for women mixed in.

These are just a few of my favorite pieces - truly, every single thing in the line is beautiful, handmade, so soft and so comfortable.  Leila would live in it if she could.  I told Tony that as soon as we win the lottery (have to buy a ticket first....) I'm buying one of everything at Pottery Barn, and Lil Blue Boo.
I am so excited to be hosting Lil Blue Boo's first-ever trunk show!  All orders placed between now and April 3 that enter the code "HeatherTrunk" will count towards my "party", and will receive a pair of free petite rose earrings.  All orders over $100 will receive two pairs.  All you have to do is place your order, and HeatherTrunk at checkout, and the "discount code" box and email me your earring selection - it's that easy.

Please let me know if you have any questions - I know you will love Lil Blue Boo as much as we (myself, Leila and Gianna) do!

The Necklace Factory

I love bib necklaces. Like slightly obsessed (ok, more than slightly) and whenever I see someone wearing one I stop them, ask where they got it and gush over it.  I have a few - this one from Miss Betty Lou, this vintage one from Allora handmade and even a ridiculously fab custom one from my friend Julie, because (let's face it) she's awesome.  Basically I really love these amazing, big fashion statements.  My budget however does not so much.

We had Gianna's pictures taken on Wednesday and I knew we'd sneak in a couple, so I started searching Etsy for an awesome bib necklace for myself.  I found tons of amazing ones, but just really didn't want to pay.  Then I decided I'd try my hand at making one.  I kind of thought I'd hate it and it would never see the light of day, but I was very pleasantly surprised.  Here's what I came up with:

I made the rosettes using Haute Blue B's tutorial, and the pom poms from Little Miss Momma's tutorial.  Then I added some tulle in the background, a little bit of bling and some beads on the chain.  What do you think?  I kind of love it, and think it looks cool on.

{how cute is that baby?!}

Not wanting to be left out, Leila requested a mini one.

And here's how it looked on:

I'm having lots of fun making these necklaces, and may have to make them in every color of the rainbow!  Have you made any fun crafts or seen any awesome tutorials lately?  Let me know!

PS - have you entered to win the Much Ado About You calendar??!  I'm picking the winner tonight, and announcing tomorrow.  Good luck!

PPS - today is the last day for the sweet discount + free earrings

I am looooooving the color combo of turquoise and orange.  (Turquoise and anything, really) but for some reason whenever I see turquoise and orange paired together I am in love, and inspired.

Some fabulous turquoise and orange for your viewing pleasure:

All I know is that I just bought some Krylon Pumpkin spray paint, and I'm feeling inspired.....
