Jessica N Designs {with an exclusive discount code AND giveaway!}

I am a jewelry lover. Like big, BIG time. I love all jewelry, big and small, but lately I am drawn to personalized pieces more than anything. I love having pieces that have been created for me and only me, things that I will treasure forever, and maybe even pass onto my girls.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Jessica N Designs and she really captured my loves on these sweet pieces!

I ordered the tiny personalized hand-stamped rings with Leila and Coco, each on a rose gold ring and Ramon (my dog!!) on a gold band. I wear the three stacked on my right ring finger, and adore the look of them!

I also ordered the "names to remember" necklace with my hubby and girl's (nick)names, and also added a clear gemstone.

It is such a special piece, and I love wearing it around, telling everyone who asks about it that those are the names of my loves!

I've also been rocking my Jessica N Designs "I Just Want to Drink Coffee & Make Pretty Things" pullover, because that is pretty much the story of my life. Don't make me adult. Just let me drink coffee and make pretty things, that's all I ask.

...speaking of coffee, I am *so* obsessed with my "Coffee for President" spoon!!! Where do I cast my vote??

It is clear that each piece is made with love and care. My pieces are treasures that I will proudly love and wear forever, and I am so happy with all of them!

Now, I have a very serious question for you. Coffee for president. Who are you voting for? I'm personally voting for the nonfat mocha ;)

Also - how would YOU like some Jessica N Designs beauties for yourself? Or perhaps a gift for your mama, since Mother's Day is coming up. One lucky reader will receive $75 to the Jessica N Designs shop! Just follow the Rafflecopter below. Winner will be announced in this post in one week. Good luck!

My current MUST-have item (and it's only $12!) ....and what's in my makeup bag

So, my pouf (my makeup bag) holds all of the essentials I can't possibly be without at any given moment.

But, let's say I was on a desert island (or "Survivor") and could only pick one. That item, hands down would be my Paula's Choice lip and body treatment balm. It is so unbelievably moisturizing and fixed my cracked, dry, winter lips overnight. I also use it on my cuticles (it can be used anywhere on the body) but it stands out as the most incredible lip product I've ever used! I currently use all of Paula's Choice products for my skin and have noticed such a tremendous improvement. I can't recommend her products enough. If you want to try anything for yourself, use THIS link for $10 off of your first purchase (full disclosure, I'l get $10 off my next purchase too. This isn't a paid post, though, I just really want to share how much I love her products!)

Anyways, I want off on a tangent there. Other things I love to always have with me:

  • 2 different lipstick shades. One red, one nude. I always have Parris (or Truck 12, sometimes both) and Coco with me.
  • Lindsay lipgloss. It's a peachy, seashell nude that is gorgeous on it's own, but also beautiful when paired on top of a darker color.
  • Korres face powder. It's great for touch ups, and this one doesn't clog my pores. It's actually on sale right now!
  • Hand sanitizer. I'm not picky on what kind.
  • Nicole by OPI cuticle oil to go. Cuticle oil that's perfectly packaged to take with you, and won't make a mess.
  • Hair ties. I love the soft ones like this, you can get them anywhere, but since my girls and I seem to go through a ton of them I make mine.
  • Perfume sample. That one is the new Tory Burch fragrance.
  • Nail file. Again, I'm not picky what kind, as long as it's cute and gets the job done!
  • My pouf, which is my actual makeup bag. I am obsessed with these - perfect size!
What's in YOUR makeup bag??

Custom Blended Foundation // Treat Yo-Self!

A few weeks ago I was luckily enough to receive a custom-blended liquid and powder foundation, from the fabulous Brianne Sparks, of Motives Cosmetics.

My skin is on the fair/light side, but incredibly hard to match because I have both golden and pink undertones. Not to mention that my skin seems to turn foundation darker than it starts out, so (like I said) it is SUPER hard to find a foundation that actually matches my skin tone! Enter in my (amazing!!!) custom-blends....I went to Brianne's salon, and she asked me a handful of questions. What kind of coverage do I like? Do I want to add an SPF in there? Do you want a touch of shimmer? How's about a moisturizing or oil reducing formula? The questions went on and on, but it was awesome because my foundations are 100% unique to my crazy, specific skincare needs. Brianne added a little bit of this, and a little bit of that, and in no time I had the perfect match to my skin. I've been wearing it for a couple of weeks, and it looks and feels incredible! I've never had so many compliments on my skin, but always fess up and tell people that I'm wearing one of Brianne's custom blends!

A couple of the things I really like about the custom blends are:

  • Completely matches your skin color, texture and skincare needs
  • Its pulverized mineral make-up that does not clog your pores. It actually protects and heals the skin.

**As a special for Glitter and Gloss readers, Brianne is offering your first custom blended liquid foundation for only $45, and your first custom blended powder foundation for only $30. (They are normally $65 each!!)**

You can reach Brianne directly at: 925.216.8499 or on her business Facebook page HERE. You can also shop the entire line of (gorgeous!!) Motives cosmetics HERE. If you have a question, be sure to ask in the comments section, and I will pass it on to Brianne!

Mani Monday + A Discount!

Happy Mani Monday, and happy Labor Day!  This week I'm featuring one of my very favorite companies, Glitties. Glitties specializes in nail-specific glitter (this isn't your typical craft store glitter!) that is an easy, inexpensive replacement to Rockstar Toes. I don't know about where you guys live, but in the Bay Area it's about $50 to get Rockstar Toes (and that usually doesn't even include the pedicure part, if you want that it's an extra $20. The $50 just covers the glitter application. Yikes!) I really wanted to have rockstar toes for my birthday last year, so I bit the bullet and paid. They looked awesome, but dang, it was expensive and was a beast to get off!!
Enter the Glitties version of Rockstar Toes - I can do them myself, and it doesn't take any longer than putting on a regular coat of polish. It last forever, but isn't a pain when it's time to take them off. They are so sparkly gorgeous, that I can't stop looking at them, and you can get an entire kit from Glitties for only for less than half the price of one application of Rockstar Toes at the salon. I'm sold!!

My own rockstar toes, done with Gold Rush (sorry, I know feet are ugly!!)

And my rockstar nails, done with Kaleidoscope:

Obsessed. Glitties is so awesome that they are offering my readers a 20% discount with the code GLITTERANDGLOSS  Woot!! Might I suggest picking up a kit, and some of the fab mixed glitters...I also Pantone-Inspired Fall colors and might need to pick them ALL up!!
adore their new

Happy Mani Monday, and now it's YOUR turn to link up!!

Silhouette Sketch Pen Promo

Disclaimer: this post is brought to you by Silhouette. Glitter and Gloss received
compensation and/or product in exchange, however all opinions (as always) are
my own.

Happy Wednesday, friends! All summer long we have slowly, but surely been re-doing Leila's room.

It all started with a super cute quilt I found on major clearance at Target. Leila has been asking for a "big girl fashion room" and this quilt is what finally got me moving on it.

I'm not quite ready to show it all off yet (still scouring craigslist and garage sales for one more dresser) but I will show off her collage wall:

I'd been on the hunt for a cute print of one of my favorite fashion quotes - "Fashions fade, but style is eternal." (Yves St. Laurent) I'd found a couple but they were too mature for Leila, so I decided to make my own with my awesome new Silhouette sketch pens.

I created a really simple print using a dress form found in the Silhouette clip art store, and two of my favorite fonts (Bombshell Pro and Champagne & Limousines.)

Then I changed my setting from blade to sketch pen, popped in the pen and voila! I did print it in two steps (first with the turquoise glitter sketch pen for the words, then I took it out and let it dry a few minutes, and put the pink glitter sketch pen in for the dress form.) I popped it in a cute, little IKEA frame and stuck it up on the wall. I love that it's age-appropriate for my fashion loving six-year-old!

Silhouette sketch pens are available online, and they have a couple really great specials going on right now through August 29 - Just use the code GLOSS at checkout to redeem these fabulous deals!

What would be the first thing you created with Silhouette sketch pens?? The possibilities are endless!

Easy Art Box Gift + An Awesome Silhouette Promotion!

Disclaimer: this post is brought to you by Silhouette. Glitter and Gloss received
compensation and/or product in exchange, however all opinions (as always) are
my own.

How on earth is it already July?? Summer is just flying by too quickly, but I've been loving every second of it with my family! We've been to lots of pool parties, BBQ's and lots of birthday parties.

For an upcoming birthday party one of Leila's sweet friends requested new art supplies. I know throwing together any old art box is easy, but I wanted to use my new Silhouette (c/o) to create something a little more special.

Before I get to the little project, though - you need to check out the amazing deal Silhouette is offering right now:

Told you those specials were amazing!!

Now onto the project - suuuuuuper simple!

You will need:
-Vinyl
-Silhouette
-Silhouette Designer Software
-Transfer Tape
-Plastic Box
-Various craft supplies

First I played around with the Silhouette Designer Edition software. I really loved the ruler feature (part of the new designer software, half off with code GLOSS) I added a sweet, little frame to the outside, and then the word "Abbey" (using one of the fonts already on my computer, gotta love that!!)

Then I sent the image to my Silhouette (through my computer), hit "cut" and the Silhouette Cameo did all the work for me! It came out like this:

I trimmed the excess, and pulled off the vinyl I didn't need:

Then I stuck some transfer tape on top, and rubbed hard on the letters with the side of a credit card:

Pulled the backing off of the vinyl and had this:

I laid it on the side of the box, again rubbed the letters hard with a gift card and it turned out like this:

Throw in some art supplies:

...and you have a very sweet, very simple personalized art box, that any child would be excited about!

Now, I'm not super crafty, but the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software made it really, really easy on me! I love the new ruler feature, which helps keep everything tight and precise, and can't wait to play with the rhinestone tools now available!

Again, with the code GLOSS you can get any one of these three amazing offers:

Here are the main differences between the two machines:

If you want to check out some really helpful YouTube videos explaining what the designer edition software can do here are some great ones:

Again, you can click HERE to check out all of the amazing specials Silhouette is offering right now! Don't forget to use code GLOSS at checkout! Happy crafting!!

live life anchored // my favorite tee

A while ago I was sent this great baseball tee by The Printed Palette. I love that it's crazy cute, crazy comfortable and hello - the sleeves are hot pink! But I especially love what it says. "Live Life Anchored." I try to live my life anchored, especially when times get tough or I feel like I'm in over my head.

When I feel like things are spiraling out of control I take a deep breath and think about my many blessings.

I am so lucky to have an incredible family, and the most amazing little girls in the world. To me, living life anchored means having an unshakable faith, appreciating all that I have, and staying true to myself.

What do YOU feel it is to "live life anchored?"

Sponsor Welcome + Discount - Evy's Tree

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great Easter weekend!!

Today I have a little interview with my friend Amy, of Evy's Tree. Amy is just about as sweet as they get! I've had the pleasure of meeting her, and we're constantly emailing back and forth, and I'm excited to spend some more time with her at the Snap Conference in a couple weeks! Amy is a wonderful wife, mama and friend and runs one of my favorite businesses. (I'm a total Evy's Tree addict!!)

Keep reading for a sweet discount code at the bottom, and if anyone wants to use that discount code to get me the Chevron or Crossover Hoodie you totally can.....

Glitter and Gloss: How did you get into the handmade business??

Amy of Evy's Tree: How Evy’s Tree came into my life is completely by accident; definitely what I would consider a God thing. When I decided to stay home with Jacob, money was VERY tight. In October of 2009, I was inspired by many wonderful and creative stay at home moms who could whip up these beautiful items for their families with practically no money. I felt like I couldn’t even take my kids’ hems up if I needed to, and that made me feel very inadequate as a mom for some strange reason :) It seem
ed like everyone I knew could sew. So I borrowed my mom’s sewing machine and attempted to learn. In fact, I did a big post on my family blog regarding my feelings about being crafty right after I brought the machine home. The post is a bit of a joke now as I complained how I wasn’t creative, and yet here I am- creating for a living! You can read about that here.

Glitter and Gloss: What is YOUR favorite piece from the Spring 2012 collection?

Oh wow, that's a tough one, I really like them all...especially since they are more edgy and unique than anything we have ever done before. I think my favorite is the Chevron, I love the colors!! But I also REALLY love the White Rabbit Simple Remix- it looks like a vintag
e couture item and gives such an amazing look on. My mom says that one belongs in Neimans! ha. :)

Glitter and Gloss: Yes - I looooooove the Chevron, too! This is a hard one, but what is your favorite Evy's Tree piece you've ever created??

This is a tough one too....I wear almost all of the items we make. I really, really, love the Diana Wrap. I have it in almost every color, it really is the most amazing piece ever; makes you look like a million bucks and can be worn with heels and a pencil skirt or your PJ's. My second favorite would be the Lacey Zip Up. I LOVE that piece and wear it all the time!!

Glitter and Gloss: I wear my Diana Wrap all the time too! What do you love about your business?

Amy of Evy's Tree: The handmade business has been such a gift to me...it has given me the confidence to step out and be creative...something I thought I was absolutely NOT. I have also met some wonderful friends and created such a great community amongst the handmade world. But most importantly, it has given me the ability to create a wonderful business of my own out of my home and enable me to have a flexible work schedule so that I can raise my kids and be home with my family. What more could I ever want? That is most definitely the main reason why I love handmade!!!

Amy is generously offering all Glitter and Gloss readers a 20% discount on all spring items, now through April 15!! Just use code GLITTERANDGLOSS at checkout!

You can find Amy here:

Gorgeous New Earring Colors!

Happy Tuesday!! I'm sitting here typing on this cold, drizzly day and craving Spring! I really shouldn't complain because this year the Bay Area didn't get much of a Winter....in fact I complained about how warm it was all Winter, and now I'm complaining how cold it is. Yes, I'm a brat. (Especially since my definition of cold is anything less than 70 degrees, but I digress...)

So, as I'm sitting here craving Spring I can't help but be excited for the Farmer's Market! My town has a wonderful Farmer's Market filled with all sorts of amazing produce, gourmet food, live music and so much more. It is a ton of fun and I can't wait for it to start up again in May. Farmer's Market, more specifically the fruits t Farmer's Market inspired the names of the new mum earrings I just made....

As always, these earrings are made with a surgical-grade stainless steel post so even the most sensitive of ears can wear them.

Treat yourself to a few juicy pairs today!! Use code "FARMERSMARKET" to get 10% off your ENTIRE order, with a minimum $10 purchase. Discount good through next Monday, April 2.

What's your favorite fruit?? I can't pick one - it's a tie between strawberries and pineapple. Yum!
